Indie Spotlight: LynBDesigns The Fault in Our Stars Collection Part 2

Hello, everyone! We've had a lovely cool shift in weather and it's starting to really feel like fall in Chicago.  I know I should be worried that it means winter is just around the corner, but I love autumn so much I just can't care at the moment :)

On to the polish! I promised earlier in the week that I'd have the second half of LynBDesigns The Fault in Our Stars collection to share with you and here they are! (If you'd like a refresher over the first 3 gorgeous shades in this collection, you can see my swatches here.)

An olive-toned antique gold with a hint of pink shimmer, Tasting the Stars kind of snuck up on me.  I wasn't expecting to love it so much just looking at it in the bottle, but once I got it on my nails I didn't want to take it off!  I won't lie; this color is probably not for everyone but to me, it's a gorgeous, sophisticated color (and perfect for fall as well!).

Tasting the Stars was easy to apply and is opaque on its own in 2-3 coats (I'm showing 3 coats with 1 coat of Seche Vite here).  Jenna (LynBDesigns creator) mentioned that this would also look great over black, and I'm pretty sure she's right.  I'll definitely be giving it a try!  No application issues here, just a smooth easy finish.

If you're a sucker for fall colors, be sure to snag Tasting the Stars for your stash.  You won't regret it (I hear crunchy leaves in my head every time I look at it)!

Wish Granting Factory is up next.  In the bottle, this polish looked bronze-y orange but, once I applied it, I discovered a lovely plummy jelly brimming with holographic flash and golden shimmer. 

Opaque in 2-3 coats (I'm wearing 3 with 1 coat of Seche Vite), Wish Granting Factory has a smooth, easy to apply formula.  I wore this polish for about 3 days with little to no tip wear, so durability isn't an issue.

Wish Granting Factory is another shade that will be perfect for fall, the wine-hued base practically screams autumn.  It's another favorite of mine from this set (I seem to have a lot of those)!

Ok, I'm going to gush a bit. Our Little Infinity is by far and away my absolute favorite in this collection and is definitely in my Top 5 favorites of all time.  Not only is it purple, it's a shifter with holographic glitter...it's like Jenna reached into my brain and made this one just for me! A royal blue to rich plum multichrome with flashes of gold and pink, Our Little Infinity is nothing short of spectacular.  It's like a purple disco ball when the sunlight hits it and the shift in lower light is a vision.  Our Little Infinity seems to glow and its distractability factor is off the charts!  I'm thankful I don't drive when I wear this one...I can barely tear my eyes away from it!

*sigh*...I mean, just LOOK. AT. IT!  In addition to her spellbinding good looks, Our Little Infinity has a beautifully smooth formula, though you might need an extra coat for full opacity.  I'm showing 4 thin coats with a coat of Seche Vite in these photos.  I wore this for 3 days on 2 separate occasions and had almost no visible wear.  It's the perfect polish, I swear!

I did my best to capture the gorgeousness of Our Little Infinity, I hope you'll realize how special this one is because if you love purple and sparkly and shifty...you NEED this polish!

Try It On Tuesday: Glitzy Glazes It's a Confetti Party!

Hello, hello!  It's been a Monday all over in my neck of the woods.  I know I'm posting for Try It On Tuesday, but it's only 11:30 here yet.  I'm counting down the minutes.  I've got a missing package in the mail and my phone is currently incommunicado, no calls, no texts, and TMobile doesn't seem to be hustling to fix the issue.  Blah!  At least I did get a couple of awesome things in the mail, one of which I'm about to show you!

This pretty lavender girl is It's a Confetti Party! by Glitzy Glazes.  GG is a new-to-me brand and I was lucky enough to win Kathi's latest giveaway to get my paws on this lovely.  IACP is a sheer lilac jelly packed with two sizes of metallic and matte squares in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and pink; small metallic and matte hexes in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and pink; white bars; and a generous sprinkling of holographic glitter as well. 

I just love these jelly sandwiches in a bottle!  Look at the depth and the layers...squeee!  IACP is rather sheer so you may want to layer it over some undies.  I did not and used 4 coats here.  You can still see a bit of nail line, but I actually like the sheerness for this one.

Emily de Molly's Oceanic Forces

Hi there!  Is everyone as ready for the weekend as I am?  It's been a long week and I'm so glad it's finally Friday.  Plus, I got my Llarowe order yesterday.  What was in that order, you ask?  Only the 2 lemmings that complete my trifecta of lemmingness!  Emily de Molly's Oceanic Forces AND Dark Forces (I already own Cosmic Forces and you can see my swatches of it here)!  You really should have witnessed my victory jig when I got my confirmation email...it was awkward lol 

I'm showing you Oceanic Forces today and Dark Forces will come in a few days.  Ok guys, I'm really not gonna type a lot here, but let the photos speak for themselves...cuz they speak volumes of awesomeness!

If you're unfamiliar with Oceanic Forces, it's a deep teal jelly with large holographic teal dots and two sizes of holographic teal hexes.  The formula here is damn near flawless, opaque in 2 coats although I'm wearing 3 here because I always want MORE DOTS!  Said dots were easily fish-able after turning the bottle upside for a bit. 

Gah!  Seriously, I'm so thrilled to own this polish!  The depth and the sparkle and the color...Oh. Em. Gee. the color!  My advice to you is to never pass Oceanic Forces up if you see it anywhere.  It retails for $13 on Llarowe's site and, if you live in Australia (or know someone who's willing to ship internationally from Down Under), you can purchase from Emily de Molly's Etsy store where full size bottles will run you between $5.69 to $10.44.  EdM does not ship internationally at the moment, but maybe you've got a good Aussie hook up...if you do, I envy you!

Glitter Guilty: In a Roundabout Way or OMG! Look at the dots!! Happy Birthday to Me!

Ok, folks, have I got some loveliness for you today!  I'm so excited about this polish...it's so yummy!  I found Glitter Guilty via facebook (I'm guessing from one of the many giveaways I enter weekly) and immediately fell in love with In a Roundabout Way.  Take a quick peek and I think you'll see why.

In a Roundabout Way is a teal-ish blue jelly completely packed with fuschia, pink, purple, holographic silver, green and blue dots in 2 sizes and liberally sprinkled with fine holographic silver as well.  If you don't own this polish, you should look into remedying that shortly.  Trust me, you NEED this one!

I mean, LOOK AT IT!!  It's squishy and sparkly and full of dots!  Plus it's blue.  That pretty much covers all my check list items.  I used 5 coats here with no undies but, if you're not a crazy person like me, you could definitely layer this over many different colors.  Even using that many coats, I had no application problems.  The formula was perfect, dried quickly and I really did not have to fish for the larger glitters at all, probably because there are just so many of them in there!
 

Glitter Guilty is a new indie brand to me and I've got to say, if all her polishes apply like this one, she's climbing my list of favorites.  It's always exciting to try something new that turns out to be so fabulous!  At $8 for a full size bottle, they're not only fabulous but totally affordable as well.  You can stay up to date on promotions and new products on Glitter Guilty's Facebook page.

China Glaze Shell-O

Hi, there!  Super quick post today...I'm headed out for work in a few minutes.  I'm a little nervous about this because I'm headed to Grant Park to help set up our booth for a show this weekend.  Grant Park is where the Blackhawks held their rally today.  They still don't know how many people showed up for it, but it looked like more than the amount that showed up for Obama's rally in 2008!  In any case, go 'Hawks!  Great job on bringing Stanley home :)

On to the nails!  I picked up a bottle of China Glaze in Shell-O a few days ago.  China Glaze's 2013 Sunsational collection is split into cremes and jellies.  Shell-O is from the jelly half.

First off, I LOVE the color.  This photos show it as a touch more orange than it actually is.  Neon brights like this always make my camera go haywire, but these really aren't too bad.  Shell-O is super, super sheer.  I'm showing 5 (!) coats here and I've still got a bit of visible nail line.

From what I've read, most of the jellies in this collection are like this.  So if you aren't patient, don't buy them lol

Now, as my boyfriend will tell you, I just can't leave well enough alone.  A single color all by itself on my nails?  No way!  So I jazzed it up a bit :)

I decided to sandwich 2 coats of Kleancolor's Chunky Holo in Candy between layers of Shell-O.  As you can see, Candy gave this manicure a lovely golden flash in the sunlight and a nice depth in other light.  A perfect summer combo!

LynBDesigns Sacre Blurple and Boardwalk Empire

Howdy, everyone!  I know I've been AWOL lately, but I'm working on reorganizing and resorting my polish stash which is a huge project.  I'm using an inventory app on my phone to get a handle on my collection, and maybe to get a rough idea of how much it cost me.  I'm not sure I want to know lol

Anyway, last week, I received a shipment from LynBDesigns.  She had a sale going in February where her whole etsy store was half price!  I couldn't resist!  Especially since she has a whole collection named after one of my favorite movies of all time, The Princess Bride.  The polishes I'm showing in this post are not from that collection, but my ABC Challenge post may contain some :)

I started here with 2-3 coats of Sacre Blurple, a gorgeous deep blue/purple jelly.  The color of this polish is AMAZING!  I wish I had thought to take photos of it by itself.  It's fairly comparable to Revlon's Royal, but with a bit more violet to it.  The formula was great, it was opaque in 2 coats, with some touch ups here and there and no staining when I removed it.  This is my first experience with LynB polishes and I couldn't be more pleased!

The second polish here is called Boardwalk Empire.  BE is a royal blue jelly base packed with purple and blue small shreds, and a mixture of teal, silver and blue hexes.  I'm sure this polish could be built up on its own in about 3 coats, but I decided to layer it here.  SB and BE seem to go hand in hand, don't they?

Again, the formula here was lovely.  I can't wait to try the rest of polishes I picked up from LynB, and I'll definitely be checking out her etsy store more often!

Snowflake Manicure

Howdy, everyone!  I'm on a roll this week, three days in a row of posts...woot, woot!  I love today's manicure so much, I'm just gonna jump right in:

Isn't this fun?  This is a perfect holiday manicure without being too in-your-face-Christmas lol  I stared with a jelly sandwich.  One coat of Revlon's Royal, one coat of Julep's Jordan, and another coat of Royal make up this pretty sandwich.  Jordan is a gun-metal silver hex and micro glitter in a clear base and Royal is the most perfect royal blue jelly there ever was.  Seriously, I broke my ban on Revlon polishes to buy this one cuz it's just too good to pass up!  After the sandwich dried, I added some hand painted snowflakes for accents.  I used a white striping polish and topped my dots with a holographic glitter striping polish.  I got the idea for the design from Laatikollinen Lakkaa (again).  If you've got a minute, you should really check out her Advent Calendar posts.  She's got some great holiday manicure ideas!  I changed things up a bit from her original design by using a dotting tool to add some extra dots around the edges.  Here's another look:

Scalloped Jelly Sandwich Manicure

Howdy, everyone!  I know it's been a few days since my last post and I'm sorry for that.  I've been working some extra hours this week so I've been too pooped when I get home to post!  But I do have something new for you today.  Here's where I started with this one:

 

So I finally broke down and bought a bottle of Revlon's Royal at Ulta last week.  I've been coveting it simply forever and, even with their copyright issues, I just had to have it.  So here, I applied one coat of Royal, followed by a coat of China Glaze's Ray-diant and then another coat of Royal to make a lovely jelly sandwich.  Royal really is a beautiful polish...but, boy! does it stink!  Is it just my bottle that smells kind of like feet?  lol

Anyway, after wearing this for a day, I decided to jazz it up a bit, and here's the result:

 

I loved my Scalloped Manicure from the other day so much, I decided to try it again.  This time, I used Orly's Luxe over top and doesn't it look fabulous!?  I love, love, love this color combo!  And I think the glitter peeking through the blue just adds a little something extra.  Whaddya think?

Colorful Jelly Sandwich Manicure

Howdy all!  I hope everyone is having a great week so far.  I am so excited about today's manicure that I just want to get right to it.  Remember this manicure I did the other day?  Today's mani is kind of like that one's more colorful cousin.  Alright, here we go!

 

 

Isn't it so pretty?  Sorry for all the photos, but I love this one so much!  The nude glitter sandwich from the other day reminded me that I needed to try different color combinations.  And, I must say, this manicure has made me finally fall in love with jellies.  There is just something about their translucency that is just so beautiful, you can't help but love 'em!

For this one, I started with 2-3 coats of China Glaze Ride the Waves alternating each nail with 2-3 coats of Sinful Colors Dream On.  After those dried, I brushed on Wet 'n' Wild's Beautiful but Dangerous glitter which has fuchsia and bright blue square glitter mixed with gold and black smallish hexagonal glitter.  I decided I needed some other sizes of glitter so I spot coated on some O.P.I. Servin' Up Sparkle; tiny holographic and larger hexagonal holographic glitters in a clear base.  After all the glitter dried, I added another coat of Ride the Waves on the blue nails.  On the pink nails, I initially did another coat of Dream On, but it dried a little too thick, so I swapped it out for Wet 'n' Wild's Fuchsiarama which is more of a true jelly.  I ended up using 2 coats of Seche Vite plus a coat of Jessica Brilliance (my SV ran out!), even with the jelly on top, the glitter was a bit of a piggy eating up my topcoat.

Whew!  Lots of photos, lots of words, but one hot manicure for sure!  I hope you enjoyed my post and thanks for stopping by!
