Another quick announcement, as you may have noticed from the title of this post, I'm starting a new segment on my blog to specifically review drugstore polishes called Drugstore Dime. I know everyone loves indies and I do too, but I personally can't always afford to buy all the indies I want. There are lots of drugstore brands that I enjoy and so I thought, since I spotlight indies, I should probably highlight these brands as well. I included "Dime" in the title because, well, I'm broke lol
My inaugural Drugstore Dime post features Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in Indi-Glow, part of their Limited Edition Spring 2014 collection. Look at that bottle, how could I not pick it up?!? I'm loving that many of the drugstore brands are trying to emulate indies more and more, although they are not quite there in quality yet and I seriously doubt if they'll ever get there simply because of the cost issue.
Indi-Glow is a sheer purple base with some amazing color-shifting glitter. Shifting from bright green and blue to gold and deep indigo, these glitters are beautiful! The base builds up to a dark blue color but it takes a lot of coats. I'm showing 4 coats in these photos with one coat of Seche Vite. What I love about this polish is the color; it's like an alien night sky on your nails! I wish the glitter came out on the nail a bit more, but the squishy jelly texture definitely shines through. However, the formula is very thick and it took forever to dry. I had lots of issues with smudging on this even after I had let everything dry for a good half an hour. I'd recommend very thin coats (which is difficult given the thickness of the base) and lots of drying time in between coats.
I can't argue with the final result though. The color is stunning, especially in sunlight where those iridescent glitters sparkle and catch the light beautifully. It's nothing that you couldn't capture using different polishes in a jelly sandwich, but for the price, it's not bad. I snagged mine in a 2 for $4 sale at Walgreen's (which is still ongoing, I believe) and they regularly retail for around $3. I think Ulta's price is a little lower than that as well.

Overall, I like this polish. It's a bit troublesome but for $2, I can't complain too much!

Hi folks! I have a super bright and fun manicure to show you all today. I know with the weather, things have been kind of doldrummy around here and I know other parts of the country are getting hit just as bad. I'm doing my best to keep my spirits up (and encourage the Spring weather to get here) by pulling out my most colorful polishes! Today's manicure is no exception.
I started with 3 coats of Orly's Purple Poodle, which I picked up at Sally's last week on clearance. PP is a fuchsia jelly with little blue flakie and glitter bits. If this doesn't qualify for bright, I'm not sure what does!
I actually wore PP by itself for a day, but decided it needed a little something extra to punch it up even further. I settled on No Tricks, Just Treats! by Lacquerlicious. This is my first Lacquerlicious polish and I grabbed it over at Llarowe for $3! Talk about a great sale! Anyway, I'm definitely impressed with this brand and I hope to add a few more to my stash in the future. NTJT! is the very definition of a glitter bomb. Containing over 75(!) different glitters, each bottle is a little different. Mine has a great mix of dots and hexes in large and small sizes, stars, bars and micro glitter in just about every color you can think of. I can't wait to use this in a jelly sandwich!

Hi there! Is everyone as ready for the weekend as I am? It's been a long week and I'm so glad it's finally Friday. Plus, I got my Llarowe order yesterday. What was in that order, you ask? Only the 2 lemmings that complete my trifecta of lemmingness! Emily de Molly's Oceanic Forces AND Dark Forces (I already own Cosmic Forces and you can see my swatches of it here)! You really should have witnessed my victory jig when I got my confirmation email...it was awkward lol
I'm showing you Oceanic Forces today and Dark Forces will come in a few days. Ok guys, I'm really not gonna type a lot here, but let the photos speak for themselves...cuz they speak volumes of awesomeness!
If you're unfamiliar with Oceanic Forces, it's a deep teal jelly with large holographic teal dots and two sizes of holographic teal hexes. The formula here is damn near flawless, opaque in 2 coats although I'm wearing 3 here because I always want MORE DOTS! Said dots were easily fish-able after turning the bottle upside for a bit.
Gah! Seriously, I'm so thrilled to own this polish! The depth and the sparkle and the color...Oh. Em. Gee. the color! My advice to you is to never pass Oceanic Forces up if you see it anywhere. It retails for $13 on Llarowe's site and, if you live in Australia (or know someone who's willing to ship internationally from Down Under), you can purchase from Emily de Molly's Etsy store where full size bottles will run you between $5.69 to $10.44. EdM does not ship internationally at the moment, but maybe you've got a good Aussie hook up...if you do, I envy you!

Howdy, everyone! I know I've been AWOL lately, but I'm working on reorganizing and resorting my polish stash which is a huge project. I'm using an inventory app on my phone to get a handle on my collection, and maybe to get a rough idea of how much it cost me. I'm not sure I want to know lol
Anyway, last week, I received a shipment from LynBDesigns. She had a sale going in February where her whole etsy store was half price! I couldn't resist! Especially since she has a whole collection named after one of my favorite movies of all time, The Princess Bride. The polishes I'm showing in this post are not from that collection, but my ABC Challenge post may contain some :)
I started here with 2-3 coats of Sacre Blurple, a gorgeous deep blue/purple jelly. The color of this polish is AMAZING! I wish I had thought to take photos of it by itself. It's fairly comparable to Revlon's Royal, but with a bit more violet to it. The formula was great, it was opaque in 2 coats, with some touch ups here and there and no staining when I removed it. This is my first experience with LynB polishes and I couldn't be more pleased!
The second polish here is called Boardwalk Empire. BE is a royal blue jelly base packed with purple and blue small shreds, and a mixture of teal, silver and blue hexes. I'm sure this polish could be built up on its own in about 3 coats, but I decided to layer it here. SB and BE seem to go hand in hand, don't they?
Again, the formula here was lovely. I can't wait to try the rest of polishes I picked up from LynB, and I'll definitely be checking out her etsy store more often!
