E is for e.l.f. and Elephant

Howdy, everyone!  Time for another ABC Challenge manicure!  This week's letter is "E".  I had a hard time coming up with something to do.  I knew I wanted to add some nail art this week, rather than doing just a swatch (not that there's anything wrong with swatching, I was just feeling creative!).  I ended up doing a google search for "things that start with e" lol  It worked out alright...here's what I got:

"E" is for Elephant!  Isn't he cute?!  I've named him George :)  I started here with 2 coats of Sinful Colors Smokin' (a dark grey creme) on every nail but the accent, there I started with 2 coats of e.l.f.'s Misty Haze (a light blue/grey creme).  I wanted to get a sort of elephant skin look to my non-accent nails, so I used a saran wrap technique.  After Smokin' had dried, I applied a coat of Misty Haze and then dabbed it with a bunched up piece of saran wrap.  The polish sticks to the saran wrap and lifts off the nail creating a wrinkle or marble pattern.  After Misty Haze dried, I repeated the process with e.l.f.'s Desert Haze (a beige nude creme).  I recommend at least 2 coats of top coat with this technique as the saran wrap tends to leave things bumpy.

George was created with a Sharpie, some black striping polish, a white nail art pen and Sinful Colors' Soul Mate (a salmon pink creme).  I'm pretty proud of him, as he turned out so much better than I expected.

If you get a moment, go check out the other ladies participating in the ABC Challenge.  You can find them via the thumbnails at the bottom of the post.

New Year's Nails

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope everyone had a fun and safe holiday.  I headed out with my favorite people for a nice dinner and then on to one of the girls' apartments for drinks and chatting.  It was a good evening and a great way to start the new year.  Another great way to start the year is with a fabulous manicure and I just so happen to have one for you right here!  Take a look:

Silver and Gold Manicure

Howdy, everyone!  Ah, Friday...the beautiful beginning to the weekend.  That is, if you have a job wherein you aren't required to work weekends...I have such a job.  But, at least it's a fun job!

I've got another holiday manicure for you today.  This one is super sparkly and packed with holo goodness.  Take a peek:

Silver and gold and glitter and holo, oh my!  I started this manicure by just swatching 3 coats of China Glaze Angel Wings and Glistening Snow.  These two polishes are part of China Glaze's 2012 Holiday Joy Collection and both are micro-glitters with a holographic punch.  Angel Wings is the gold and Glistening Snow is the silver.  Both of these applied easily with decent coverage on the second coat.  Initially, I was going to leave this manicure as just the two polishes on alternating nails, but why stop there?  I ended up doing glitter gradients on each nail.  I paired O.P.I.'s Servin' Up Sparkle, a silver micro and hex holographic glitter in a clear base, with Angel Wings while Glistening Snow matched up with e.l.f.'s Gold Star, a large hex glitter in a clear base.

Here's another view:

I may have a holiday party to go to Saturday night, so I'll be sporting this glitter-fest because I think it's just perfect!  What do you guys think?

Two for One

Howdy, everyone!  I know it's been awhile since I've posted, so I hope some of you are still reading.  My life has been a bit of a whirlwind of late, so I haven't had the time to keep up with my blog.  I had a few spare moments today, so I thought I'd show you a couple of manicures I've done in the last few weeks.  Both of these manis are great for holiday wear.

The first manicure I have for you is really just a swatch of a new color I picked up at Walgreen's awhile ago.  Here's a peek:

1 of 31-Red Nails

Howdy, everyone!  You can guess from the title of my post that I've decided to join in the 31 Day Challenge this month!  I was going to put it off til October, but I have a lot of fun Halloween manis planned and I didn't want this to interfere.  So, basically, it's a different manicure every day following the guidelines below:

I swiped this image from Kayla over at Nails by Kayla Shevonne, as she said anyone who was interested in participating was welcome to it.

Day number 1 is pretty simple; Red Nails!  I don't often wear red nail polish these days.  I'm not opposed to color but I think it's such a "standard" nail polish color that I overlook it in my stash a lot.  Already this Challenge is pushing me out of my box...I love it!  Here's my take on the red nails challenge:

I started with one coat of Wet 'n' Wild's Red Red and then added a coat of Sephora by O.P.I. in What's Your Poison?, a great red and silver glitter in a red jelly base.  I used a coat of Seche Vite to help everything firm up and then I applied e.l.f #20417 from Target to just the tips of my nails.  I've been unable to find names for this polish brand so if anyone knows any other way to refer to these, I'd love to hear about it!  #20417 is a micro-glitter gold base with large hexagonal holographic glitters mixed in, very pretty!  This is my first time trying e.l.f. and I liked it, but to warn you, it smells a lot like the KleanColor polishes.  PeeeeeeeeYouuuuuuuu!

I know that technically I'm posting this manicure a day late, but I promise I did apply it before midnight on the 1st...just took some time to get photos and a post together.  I'll try to be more timely for the rest of the month. If anyone else is participating, I'd love to see what you come up with and I'd love to hear what you think of my manis!
