Who's Got the Bulldog?

Hello!  As most of the people who are actually reading this blog know, I work at a pet store part time.  It's a fun job and it's fun to see all the dogs who come to visit us.  On Wednesday, the cutest little bulldog puppy came in with his new owner.  The puppy's name is Boomer, he is 8 weeks old and just a little ball of wrinkles and love!  And, seriously, isn't puppy breath the best?!  Anyway, I got to thinking that he'd make a pretty darn good manicure so here he is!

If it hadn't taken me so long to do the portrait accent nail, the paw prints on the rest of them would be a little cleaner.  I really, really, really need to get some stamping plates for things like that.  It would make my life so much easier *sigh*  The base color is Sinful Colors Athens and then I used acrylic paint for the portrait and paws.  I think my paint is a bit on the old side, it was a little draggy.  In any case, doing detail work with acrylic paint is SO much easier than using polish and it's easier to fix mistakes with it as well.  If the paint is wet enough, a little water takes it right off and you can start over!  Once it dries, it can be sealed with a topcoat, just like regular polish.  I don't know who thought this up, nor do I remember where I first read about it (probably on Pinterest) or I'd give someone credit.

I love SC Athens, but I really am wishing I had used a light blue as a background color.  I think it would have made a better contrast for the paws.  Other than that, I'm pretty happy with how the bulldog turned out.

Well that's all I have for you today.  I hope you have a nice Saturday evening and those of you who are mothers, have a great Mother's Day.  Those of you who have mothers, appreciate them at least this one day out of the year!
