Try It On Tuesday: Hit Polish Galaxy Quest
Hello, hello! It's Tuesday (for a couple more hours) and that means it's time for another Try It On Tuesday post! This week, I'm featuring a polish from Hit Polish Nail Lacquer. I can't say enough nice things about this brand. Not only are her polishes unique and fantastic to use, Rachel is such a wonderful, sweet person. She really went out of her way for me when a shipment got lost in the mail a couple of weeks ago (through no fault of her own!). Her customer service can't be beat and her shipping times are lightning fast!
Anyway, let's talk about this week's TIOT's polish, shall we? :)
Meet Galaxy Quest! With a shimmery grey lavender base chock full of holographic and metallic hexes and dots in fuchsia, turquoise, and silver, Galaxy Quest is definitely out of this world :) This polish was actually named by a Facebook follower, but it's easy to imagine the inspiration as The Final Frontier itself. And Galaxy Quest is also a favorite movie of mine, so combine that with the dots, and I'm hooked, lined, and sinkered!
Application was easy, with a little fishing for the larger glitters as you'd expect. I'm showing 2 coats of GQ with one coat of Seche Vite here and you'll definitely want a top coat to smooth things out. But a little bumpiness is totally worth the shine and shimmer in this polish! The blackened base makes this a little more understated than I usually see with these large dot glitters, but it's all the more interesting for it.
Currently, Hit Polish is updating the regular store site but you can still purchase polish over on Etsy. Rachel is having a super huge clearance sale on Etsy right now and mini bottles start at $1.88 each(!) and full size at $4.13. If you've been waiting to try Hit Polish, now is the time! Less than 2 bucks for the minis is an absolute steal! I've got a new shipment coming full of goodies so I'm sure you'll be seeing more in the coming weeks. I'm actually trying to restrain myself from buying more because they're so pretty and such a great price! So you guys go buy them all so I won't be tempted, k? Thanks! :)

Hit Polish: Bananas in Pajamas & I'm All Ogre It!
Howdy all! I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend here in the States, and that any international folks are just plain enjoying things :) I've got a couple of polishes to show you today that I won from two separate naming contests. I really enjoy playing the name game and I love it when indie makers give their fans an opportunity to get in on the creative process! Both of these polishes are from Hit Polish. Rachel, the brains behind Hit Polish, continues to impress me with her high-quality products and unique color/glitter combinations. Ok, on to the swatches!
I'm starting with Bananas in Pajamas, a creamy light yellow crelly with a gold shimmer packed with pastel hexes and squares. I didn't actually name this one, but I got an honorable mention for my suggestion in the contest so I won a mini bottle.
BIP is just a beautiful polish! The application was great, though it is a bit sheer. I used 4 coats here, but you could definitely layer it if you didn't want to use so many coats. I had a hard time capturing the lovely shimmer of this polish, but there really is a strong gold that catches the light magnificently.
If you're looking for the perfect Spring polish, BIP is definitely your girl.
Next up, we have I'm All Ogre It! Now this one I did name :) IAOI is an olive green base full of red, royal blue, purple, gold, copper and holographic glitters in hexes, squares and shreds. My inspiration for the name came from the movie Shrek (which is probably fairly obvious, but just in case some of you were wondering).
I chose the above macro shot so you could see more of the holographic bits, though I know it's a bit dark. I liked IAOI a lot more than I thought I would when I first saw the photos of it that Rachel had posted. The green is a bit more olive than I normally go for, however much like BIP, it has a gorgeous gold shimmer that saves the green from being murky or muddy. And I love the glitter mix, the colors remind me of Mardi Gras!
Application was, again, smooth and easy. All the glitters came out of the bottle nicely and it built up to opacity in 2-3 coats. Overall, a really nice polish!
If you haven't tried Hit Polish yet, I really don't know what you're waiting for! Both of these polishes are currently available on Rachel's site and go for $3.35 for a 5ml mini bottle and you can turn any mini into a full size bottle for $8.25. Follow Hit Polish on Facebook for updates on new polishes, sales, and future naming contests!

New Hit Polish Nail Lacquer Review
**Hit Polish products provided for honest and unbiased review by manufacturer. All other products purchased by me**
Hi there, everyone! I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! I'm having a bit of extended one because the July 4th holiday, it may be a bit hard to go back to work next week lol Anyway, as a warning, this post is a bit more photo heavy than my usual and that's because I'm reviewing 3 new Hit Polish lacquers today! I'm super excited as this is my first "official" review.
If you haven't heard of Hit Polish Nail Lacquer, you're really missing out. Rachel, the owner and operator, used to sell her polish under the name D & R Apothecary on Etsy. You can still find her perfume oils there, but she has moved her polishes to the new store with a new name. Moving didn't matter cuz her polishes are still fabulous! Let's get to it, shall we?
First up is Summer Punch. SP is a glitter topper brimming with small glitters in red, yellow, lavender, and bubblegum pink; larger hexes in yellow, lavender, and bubblegum pink; and sprinkled with red stars.
For this mani, I've layered 2 coats of SP over 2 coats of Sinful Colors in Over It. This combination of glitters would look awesome over many different colors though, I had a hard time deciding which to use it over!
Summer Punch has a lovely formula, smooth and not gloppy, and the glitters were all easy to apply. I did have to fish a bit for the stars, but it really wasn't a hassle at all and totally worth the extra work!
Next in line is Teal Me About It. TMAI is (aptly named) a deep teal crelly base with small gold, teal, and green glitters; larger hexes in gold, green, and teal holographic glitters; small teal squares; gold bars; and purple shreds.
Check out the depth in this one! We all know I'm a sucker for a good crelly and I think Rachel's knocked it out with this one! It reminds me of Mardi Gras in a bottle because of the gold, green and purple color combo...so pretty!
Again formula was no issue, although TMAI is on the sheer side so be prepared to use several coats. I used 4 coats for the above photos, but probably could have passed with 3. If you want to use fewer coats, you could certainly layer Teal Me About It over another creme polish.
And finally, we have Jammin' Good Time, my personal favorite of the 3. JGT is another glitter topper, this time with silver and fuchsia microglitters; fuchsia dots in 2 sizes (be still my heart!); and bright blue hexes and squares.
Here I've layered 2 coats of JGT over 2 coats of China Glaze in Tart-y For the Party. There is so much I love about this polish! My aforementioned love of crellies is second only to my love of dots and pairing those dots with the smaller blue squares was a good call.
The formula on this polish was just as nice as the previous 2, again with a bit of fishing for the larger dots and hexes. Totally worth the extra work! I'm planning to try Jammin' Good Time over a black polish next time, I think the colors will just sing!
Currently, Hit Polish Nail Lacquers retail for $3.25-4 for mini sizes and $8 for full size bottles. I've purchased from Hit Polish in the past and will definitely do so again in the future. She's got a great product for a reasonable price and I hope you all will give her a visit! Summer Punch, Teal Me About It, and Jammin' Good Time will be available from Hit Polish's Etsy store on July 15th along with 30+ (!) other brand new polishes. Feel free to follow Hit Polish on facebook to keep up with releases and any other important info!
