Purple Hearts

Hello, everyone!  I hope the weekend has treated you well.  I worked all weekend so there wasn't much of a break for me.  Today was the Pride parade here in Chicago, which is fun to go to if you enjoy big crowds and lots of fluorescent colors :)  I had a heck of a time getting home from work, the train was packed!  The highlight of the day, however, was the person I saw wearing a t-shirt that said, "Vaginas are Gorges"...wouldn't you proofread before you had a shirt printed?  Oh well, I got a giggle out of it lol

A quick and easy manicure today.  I was in the mood for something colorful and sweet and I think I accomplished it.

Here I started with 2 coats of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails in No Hard Feelings, a lovely lilac creme.  I actually think this color would look better on someone with a darker skin tone than mine, but I do so love my purples, I can't give them up!  On top of that, I added a coat of Nicole by O.P.I. in Step 2 the Beat of My Heart.  It's chock full of large pink and purple iridescent heart-shaped glitter in a clear base with little iridescent flakies in it.  I had a hard time applying this because the little hearts did not want to come out of the bottle.  I did quite a bit of fishing to get enough out to cover my nail.  I wanted a bit more of an iridescent finish so I added a coat of Confetti's Ice Ice Baby, which is a fun effects polish; tiny icy blue-green iridescent glitter in a clear base.

I like this manicure, but it's a little too sweet to wear for too long.  It fit the mood at the time, but it'll be coming of just about as soon as I post this lol  I seriously have polish commitment issues!  Of course, that's part of what makes nail polish so much fun :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. The "Vaginas are Gorges" shirts are a pun off of the "Ithaca is Gorges" shirts made in Ithaca, NY. The city is famous because it has the most waterfalls/gorges in 10 sq miles of land (aside from two notable universities).

Those shirts were made by Cornell University's Women Resource Center to bring awareness and advertising for the Vagina Monologues. Next time stop being so immature and get your facts straight by doing research. You sound like an ignorant buffoon.

    1. Thanks for the information. I wasn't aware it was an intention misspelling, and it was nice of you to point it out in a kind and educational way.
