Mish Mash Challenge: Tape Manicure

Hiya!  It's time for our second Mish Mash Challenge...yay!  This week we're doing tape maicures...which is kind of what I did last week.  So, for this week, I decided to go with a technique I haven't already tried and do something with striping tape.  Here's what I came up with!

If you look closely, you can definitely see some smudges and areas where I didn't get the tape stuck down properly, but, on the whole, I think this turned out great for a first attempt (if I do say so myself).

I started with 2 coats of Wet 'n' Wild Megalast in Blue Visionary, one of the polishes in the Wet 'n' Wild Value Packs that you can find in Walgreen's.  If you see this one, grab it!  Seriously gorgeous shade, it leans a little more green than my photos show and it made this mani glow!  I topped BV with one coat of Kleancolor's Chunky Holo Teal just for a bit of sparkle.  After applying a coat of Seche Vite, I let everything dry for a bit.  When there was no tackiness left, I started laying down small pieces of striping tape in different patterns on my nails (tip: tweezers are your best friend for this!).  When everything was laid out the way I wanted, I applied one coat of Sinful Colors' Into The Blue over the nail, tape and all.  While ITB was still wet, I pulled up the tape and voila! Tape manicure!

Please take a few moments to go check out the other fabulous ladies participating in the Mish Mash Challenge!  I'm so excited to see what's shakin' on their pages for this challenge! You can find them via the thumbnails below :)

Oh!  And don't forget to enter my LynBDesigns Giveaway!  I've got a bottle of Am I Ginger? (courtesy of Jenna) up for grabs...trust me, you want it!

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Damn fine mani for a first time at taping. Isn't it fun? I love that with a pinch of patience that mani up there can be done. Wow.

I've never seen a bottle of Kleanpolish in my life. The colors are so intense.

    Awesome job, Natalie! :)

    1. Thanks, Lisa! Kleancolors are pretty inexpensive and I've only ever seen them on Amazon and Ebay. The colors are great but, at least with the ones I have, they stink to high heaven! I use them sparingly because of that, but the colors are worth it, once in awhile ;)

    1. If you have a Dollar General near you, you may be able to find it without having to buy the 3-pack. For some reason, Wet 'n' Wild only released the individual bottles in the 40 new shades at Dollar Generals. Silly move, they'd sell more at Walgreen's, I'd think. Oh well! Thanks :)

  10. Beautiful! And I love the blues!! What a great job! And thanks for the tip about tweezers...those little tapes are so hard to hold! P.S. I've found Kleancolor polishes at beauty supply stores, not the chains but the little individually owned ones.

  16. Love! I'm a sucker for blues, and I must have that WNW. Going to have to hunt for it since I haven't seen it at my walgreens. I love the striping patterns as well. Really makes me want to whip out my striping tape!

    1. I've only found this one in the 3-pack sets. Apparently, they did release it as an individual bottle at Dollar General, if you've got one of those near you. Thanks, Kimber!
