The Inevitable St. Patrick's Day Manicure

Happy St. Patrick's Day, folks!  I hope you've all been responsible with your partying this weekend, if you are so inclined to party.  Here in Chicago, St. Paddy's is a pretty big holiday.  I try not to leave the house too much if I can help it lol  Even if I don't love the holiday itself, it's a good excuse for a manicure!

As you can see, I gave the water marbling another go.  I'm relatively happy with how it turned out, but I wish I could figure out a way to do it that didn't leave so many bubbles.  I was able to cover a lot of the bubbles up with some gold glitters, but I wish my technique was better.  Oh well, practice is the only answer, I suppose!

I marbled 4 of my nails with just greens and white and then my index nail is done with a rainbow of colors.  Kinda like the leprechaun's rainbow with the pot of gold at the end.  Check the end of this post of a list of polishes used.

Have you given water marbling a try yet?  Any tips for those of us trying to perfect the technique?  Or do you think it's just more trouble than it's worth?

Thanks so much for reading!

  1. You did a very nice job. Congratulations. Water marbling is my nemesis. That's why you'll find no tips from this corner. I've tried water marbling on a few occasions...all of them being unmitigated disasters. :(

Someday, I'll figure it out. LOL.

    Again, nice job!!!!!! :)

  2. Thanks, Lisa. I've certainly had my fair share of failures in the water marbling department. I think some people just have a talent for it while the rest of us struggle through and hope to get lucky lol
